Texas Water Development Board approves $49,985,000 to the City of Granbury (Hood County) for water system improvements

AUSTIN – (September 10, 2026) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $49,985,000 to the City of Granbury (Hood County), in financing from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF). The City will use the assistance for construction of a water system improvements project.

The City could save approximately $14,600,000 over the life of the loan by using the DWSRF.

With the assistance approved today, the City will improve its existing water treatment plant and construct a new 5 million gallons per day water treatment plant. Improvements to the existing water treatment plant include the installation of new feed pumps, filters, and booster pumps, upgrades to the electrical and chemical feed systems and pumps at the City’s pump station, and electrical improvements. The City also plans to develop an asset management plan.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional water and flood planning, and preparing the state water and flood plans. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood mitigation, and agricultural water conservation projects.
